[The empty city is, for lack of a better word, creepy. Rosalind hates it, for all she won't say so. But it's eerie to walk down a street and not have the chatter of people around her; she's a city girl, and she's used to a certain amount of background noise.
Which is why the noises she hears now startle her so badly. There's the hideous sound of metal scraping and Ros jumps, her shoulders rising and her body flinching before she realizes it's coming from a nearby shop. The same shop she was heading towards, in fact, and it seems someone had the same idea she had, because there's a brick through the window and someone shuffling around inside.
She can't rightly see what they're doing at this angle, but she steps through carefully. Her feet crunch against broken glass, and she squints.]
